JK Magnum

Jeep Wranglers are Extremely popular vehicles to customize and add personality to.  I was in the middle of a Salvage Jeep project doing alot of searching for Wrangler related parts.  Coming across these door handle inserts and seeing the empty holes.

I thought "I bet a bullet casing could be pressed into there to be-jewel those".  So using a 357 Magnum casing an existing jeep accessory,  The JK Magnum Door Handle Insert Was Born.

This would mark my first journey from concept to reality.  Taking an idea, bringing it to life and getting it sold.

Many lessons were learned here from inventory management, product marketing, product manufacturing, to making a process and product profitable.

In the end, the cost of producing these authentically would not scale due to the labor involved to produce these.  The project ran 10months, from April 2018  thru January 2019.  Total Revenue = $17,098 Approximately 350 sets sold at an average price of $47.50.  Total Cost less labor = $12,461 Leaving only $4,636 for both profit and labor.  This was a great adventure and would still make a great small scale business.

An alternative idea would be having the bullet casings end cast directly into the product, eliminating the additional hand crafted manual labor.  But the appeal to the buyer was the "Real fired, spent" bullet casings.  These casings are not available in China.
